CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D INTAKE TO WORSEN PCA?
Bone loss is a known side effect of ADT (Androgen-Deprivation Therapy) for men with PCa (Prostate Cancer.) It may seem reasonable that calcium and vitamin D intake would counter effect and help manage with bone loss. Ironically, new data supports that those supplements thought to manage the consequences of ADT can actually be harmful and increase aggressive PCa.
Aside from possible bone loss due to ADT, does dietary intake of calcium/or vitamin D pose the same dangers?
Data supports that most epidemiological studies caution the risks for aggressive PCa advances with both dietary calcium and calcium supplements. Males with a family history of Prostate Cancer, it is best to avoid calcium supplements altogether and include it sparingly into everyday dietary needs.
