DOES A MAN’S DIET REQUIRE SELENIUM?

Men do need Selenium in small amounts for their bodies to properly function.  Selenium is a mineral that helps men with their thyroid gland and immune systems to properly function.  This mineral also acts as an antioxidant, protecting the body from harmful substances that can lead to cardiovascular and certain diseases.  A selenium deficiency can lead to Hypothyroidism along with a weaker immune system.
Selenium is said to increase fertility in men by increasing sperm production and help aid in circulation of sperm.
The best sources of selenium are found in foods such as seafood and poultry.  Brazilian nuts are also known to have one of the richest sources of selenium.
Considerations- Don’t over do it; Men who consume too much will counter effect the benefits and thus may cause symptoms of irritability, nausea, hair loss, etc.
