LASER THERAPY FOR ENLARGED PROSTATE (BPH)

GreenLightTM Laser Therapy is a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment for enlarged prostate (BPH). Using laser energy to vaporize and remove excess prostate tissue relieves pressure on the urethra. By removing the obstructive tissue, the channel for urine to pass through is opened up, relieving symptoms of an enlarged prostate.

HOW DOES LASER THERAPY FOR AN ENLARGED PROSTATE WORK?

During GreenLight Laser Therapy, a tiny camera is placed in the urethra so that your urologist can see precisely where the excess prostate tissue is located. The camera contains a thin, flexible laser fiber, which then targets excess tissue, and utilizes laser energy to vaporize the tissue that is blocking the flow of urine, by pressing on the urethra.

GreenLight Laser Therapy provides the benefits of an older, surgical treatment for enlarged prostate known as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). However, it provides fewer side effects, and a faster, less painful recovery.

GreenLight Laser Therapy is performed as an outpatient procedure in nearly all cases. Most men will be able to return home within several hours.

IS GREENLIGHT LASER THERAPY FOR BPH RIGHT FOR ME?

The majority of men may be candidates for GreenLight Laser Therapy. This non-surgical procedure is less risky than surgery and poses less risk of side effects. However, your unique medical history, overall health condition, and other factors will all be assessed to determine if GreenLight Laser Therapy is the best treatment for your BPH.
